You were so incredibly agitated at the Summit meeting when Dr. Kostopolous and Court discussed health screenings. I thought "heaving chest" was just a fanciful figure of speech until you gave a demonstration.
But now: let us not frustrate Red Talon's operations. Let us be mindful of our neighbors to the west and attempt to divert the horde, which will require close coordination with the other communities of the Quad. Prescott included. Though God forbid they conduct any health screenings.
No. Stop bothering me when I'm trying to bother you. I mean yes. It's not like that. What I mean to say is you were visibly upset. Which is also notable because you are very rarely visibly anything.
The inconsistency is the punchline, yes. [...] But I agree that sending the horde on toward Seattle may not be the correct thing to do. What is universally correct and what is correct for us at this moment may be at odds. I am still thinking about it. And then I thought of you and your position, and thought it was funny. That is all.
So you noticed that I was visibly upset and decided the best course of action for you to take would be to slight me further? Good to know.
And I am not being inconsistent. If you do ultimately decide that we should send the horde on to Seattle, would you deem that decision inconsistent with your self-perception as a ‘good person’?
No, I waited a few days until it seemed as though you were no longer visibly upset before I brought it up again. To be funny and engaging. [...] Candidly, this is the first time I am trying this type of humor with someone else. Evidently I have room to improve.
And I am not a good person. I only try to be. The difference between you and I in this matter is that you seem to embrace the designation of wicked whereas I try to reject it. [...] But I was elected as an alderman and a committee member to protect the interests of those who elected me, and even those who did not vote. We all know how to stay quiet and let the dead pass us by, we've all done it before. Whereas we have never attempted to divert or eradicate a horde of this size.
I do not believe these black and white notions of good and bad really matter. People can do bad things for good reasons and good things for bad ones. And even if you try to do the right thing, it can be the wrong thing in the end. There is no way of knowing. We are only guessing. And my guess is that letting a horde of that size carry on to Seattle will ultimately be the wrong thing for us all.

What is the punch line of this joke, John? That I am an evil person being inconsistent in my displays of wickedness? Ha ha. Good one.
